Addis Fine Art, based in the Ethiopian capital and London, sold five of the seven works on view during the opening day, including paintings by the Modern Ethiopian artist Tadesse Mesfin.
He [the gallery’s co-founder Mesai Haileleul] adds that “the relationship between Ethiopia and the Arab peninsula goes back a long way. We feel like we need to be here [at Art Dubai] and want more galleries from Africa to join us. Spreading the word about the talent in Ethiopia will take more than just us.”
